OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPINNING DISK in PRODUCTION OF METAL fuels

At EnergyDays 2017, in his introduction Dr. John van der Schaaf addressed several aspects regarding energy, raw materials, capital and risk for the production of metal fuels and other chemicals in future. He showed how the spinning disk technology, which has been developed at TU/e, works.
This technology, which is being further developed, has already found several fields of application in industry, such as extremely fast exothermic reactions or multiphase reactions, extraction or electrochemistry. The spinning disk technology offers several advantages such as high mass and heat transfer, short mixing times or low volumes, which make intensification of production possible.
John concluded his presentation by sharing some insights in current and near future work.
