ESCAPE-29 - From molecule to enterprise

From 16 to 19 June, the annual ESCAPE conference was held in Eindhoven. It attracted over 380 participants from 44 countries and had a healthy balance of contributions from academia and industry. Topics ranged from molecular to enterprise level. The research interests covered a wide range of interdisciplinary problems related to the current needs of the modern society and industry.

De Gas-To-Liquids technologie maakt het mogelijk om koolwaterstofproducten te maken uit aardgas. In dit proces worden korte aardgasmoleculen afgebroken en gecontroleerd gesynthetiseerd, 'geknipt en geplakt' tot langere uniforme moleculen. De moleculen die het oplevert, hebben een grotere consistentie en uniformiteit dan die resulterend uit het conventionele raffinageproces uit ruwe aardolie. Het proces levert een alternatieve dieselbrandstof op die schoner verbrandt, met minder uitstoot en zonder schadelijke componenten als zwavel, metalen of aromaten.
